E-Max / Obsidian Crowns

E-Max / Obsidian (Lithium Disilicate, Lithium Silicate) crowns are considered one of the most esthetic crowns available today.   They are a type of all-ceramic dental crowns which are preferred for its translucency, longer lasting aesthetic qualities. This type of crown is often used for a highly attractive appearance which ensures that they compliment the rest of your teeth.

WHAT IS AN E-MAX CROWN?

E-max is a type of all-ceramic crown which has one of the best translucent properties, while still providing extra strength and durability compared to other all ceramic restorations (flexural strength of 360-400 MPa). This crown is made from lithium disilicate ceramic and can be pressed or milled.

Advantages

  • High strength (400 MPa) and high esthetics
  • Minimally invasive, accurately fitting restorations
  • Four levels of translucency and additional Impulse ingots for maximum flexibility
  • Lifelike esthetics, irrespective of the shade of the preparation
  • Adhesive, self-adhesive or conventional cementation depending on the indication

Indications

  • (Thin) veneers
  • Minimally invasive inlays/onlays (1 mm)
  • Partial crowns and crowns

BruxZir® Solid Zirconia crowns

Bruxzir Esthetic Crown

BruxZir® Solid Zirconia is a full monolithic zirconia crown, with NO porcelain overlay. It is by far the strongest esthetic crown designed for demanding situations like bruxism, implant restorations and areas with limited occlusal space. (870 MPa)

Designed and milled using CAD/CAM technology, BruxZir Solid Zirconia is sintered for 2.0 hours at 1,530 degrees Celsius to achieve optimum strength. The final BruxZir crown or bridge is then glazed to a smooth surface.

Disadvantage is that this material is not as translucent as other materials. In response, Bruxir Esthetic was introduced to address the esthetic concerns in the anterior zones, with 650Mpa.

PFZ Porcelain Fused to Zirconia

Traditionally, Porcelain Fused to Metal (PFM) crowns were developed by porcelain fusing to a metal substructure.  With further development, all-ceramic (porcelain) dental crowns were developed to produce a more natural appearance.  Significant advancements have since been made, with PFZ dental crowns (such as Lava) being preferred over PFMs.

The Lava system is based on the machining of presintered zirconia, which, due to its outstanding mechanical properties, its biocompatibility, and its excellent esthetics in combination with a specially designed veneer ceramic, is the ideal candidate for these applications. Zirconia is a high-tech ceramic material that is characterized by its outstanding stability and biocompatibility, as well as strength levels that are significantly higher than other all-ceramic materials.  In addition to strength, Lava all-ceramic system restorations display excellent esthetics and precise fit characteristics.

  • Excellent esthetics and translucency
  • 3-unit bridge are possible

If you want a natural and lasting change to your smile while optimizing length, rotations and alignment problems, then Lava crowns can reshape and whiten your teeth and improve your smile dramatically.
